About Us

The Gawura Aboriginal Corporation is a not-for-profit corporation run by the Gawura Aboriginal Community dedicated to addressing Aboriginal people’s social, cultural, and economic concerns in the Illawarra.

We strive for excellence in delivering advocacy and culturally sensitive services to address the needs of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We are based in Shellharbour and work throughout the region.

We honour the community’s people, the elders, and the supporting organisations who worked arduously to create the corporation to guarantee that a significant improvement could be accomplished for our mob. Our organisation can serve the Aboriginal community even today because of the tenacity and fortitude of our founding members and community.
